The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is a leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world.
EFF conducted an analysis to determine which “secure messaging” products were actually secure?
They determined that there are two key factors: security and usability. They found that most of the tools do not rely on security best practices–including end-to-end encryption and open source code.
EFF created The Secure Messaging Scorecard, below, to analyze dozens of messaging technologies and rates each on a range of security best practices.
